Catastrophe Media is pleased to announce the publishing of A Line of Thought, a book of drawings and works on paper by emerging artist Dylan Rose Rheingold. Foreword written by renowned painter, Gary Stephan, whose work is included in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, LACMA, Whitney Museum of American Art, Guggenheim Museum, Smithsonian and MOCA. A Line of Thought is an intimate look inside the mind and various sketchbooks of mixed-media painter Dylan Rose Rheingold. Born and based in New York City, Rheingold is in the midst of receiving her MFA at The School of Visual Arts, while formulating a book that encompasses her painting studies, thumbnail illustrations, drawings and hand written notations from 2018- 2021. Rheingold’s sketchbook, as the title alludes, carefully traces her subconscious line of thought: reminding us of all the passing faces we encounter when in a hurry, and in contrast, the muted moments encountered by everyday nostalgia and voyeurism. In short, the book balances the duality between the uncanny and the beautiful. Her sketchbook isn’t at all an answer, but a raw glance at the process behind the figures, automatic drawings, surrealism and abstraction that inspire the tapestries of color, line work and shape within her work.
